Sendstation to ship PocketDock on Sept 12
updated 02:55 am EDT, Wed August 27, 2003
today announced that its PocketDock will start shipping next month. The PocketDock, designed for use with Apple's iPod, allows a standard 6-pin FireWire cable to connect to the iPod's proprietary docking port. It will be available beginning September 12 for $19 (SRP) directly from SendStation Systems and soon after, from authorized dealers worldwide. Customers who pre-order their PocketDock before Sept. 12 will receive a $2 discount.

July?

I like this product, and I'd buy it in a split second if Amazon (or equivalent) had it in stock.
But in June, they said it would ship in July. Now in August it'll be shipping in September. Pre-order this theoryware from Germany at your own risk, or spend an extra 99 cents for a real iPod cable from Apple.

I use my 17PB between work and home, and could really do without having to pack up all my cables. I was about to get a spare 3G iPod FW cable, but this would let me just carry a standard FW cable that can still connect to other devices.
I'd love to see the iPods shipping with this by default, as much as I love the redesign I'm not a big fan of the proprietary connector.
