MacNN reader Richard Lorenc notes a subtle change at : "Apple has seemingly changed its 'Music' tab to 'iTunes'. I suspect this may have something to do with the problems between Apple Computer and Apple Records, the Beatles' record company. The Beatles may soon be making an appearance on the iTunes Music Store."

    no

This is probably just a result of legal action by their record company. Don't expect to see them any time soon.

    Reader reports

The amount of raw sewage leaving Apple's R&D lab on the weekends is up 23%

They must be hard at work on the G6 desktop and G5 laptops!!

Doesn't it make more sense that they are consolidating their branding of iTunes? The reason Beatles music is not available yet is because of the amazing amount of legal swill involved with international licensing; ditto Stones, whose swill has been swam through, and whose music will be appearng at iTMS next month.

Apple Corps does not administer the licensing for Beatles music. Apple Computer would probably rather have the "iTunes" brand on their site rather than the generic "Music".

BTW: Who were the Beatles again?

    When they show up

I'll buy my first Beatles music, I have been looking to make some purchases of their music, but decided I would wait until it arrived on Apples Music Store, of course I could just kazza it if they like. Get with the times.

    Real reason

Apple is about to sell iTunes to PC people. Maybe the name change is to consolidate the "iTunes" application and place to get music.

    Stones

The issue with the Stones is not about international rights. They were in the process of signing (and just announced having signed) an exclusive deal with Rhapsody or something. It's the one owned by Real Networks, but I don't remember what its name is. If it ain't iTunes, I don't pay attention.

is still directing people to apple.com/itunes. If there really were a problem with the terms and Apple and Music, they would have given up the domain.
