    Not to Mention

Multiple cooling zones, does the wind tunnel syndrome seem to be multiplying?

    idiot

Lava hot? The 970 has slightly more than half the heat disipation of the current P4s (while the 970 runs at 2GHz).

It ISN'T lava hot... the writer is an idiot who thinks that a whisper quiet computer with a lot of fans must have very hot CPUs.

    Tone

I don't like this guy's tone towards people who use Macs. Why did he find it necessary to write an article about this? When the G3s came out, they were for the Pro customers first for some time. Then the G4s came out and were only available to Pros for a long time (until G4 iMac) and took a year to get into the Titanium.

Now, obviously, the G5 will not immediately replace every chip in Apple's lineup. They DO want people to happily shell out over $2k for their Power Mac towers, remember?

    I can't stand so-called tech reporters.

    Wow...

This is by far the closest thing to an accurate, intelligent commentary from Salkever... doesn't quite qualify for either aspect, but it's definitely an improvement.

That being said, it still falls under my "if Salkever wrote it, it's not worth reading unless you're entertained by misinformation, misterpretation, and ill-founded criticisms in general" rule... unless, of course, you have plently of free time to write letters to the editor ;)

    Blades

Weird, the writer talks about blade servers in that article and then he doesn't mention the XServe. Now that's one machine that's in need of a G5 ...

'many Apple lovers had expected a smoother transition to Unix'

Huh? How smooth did you want it then?

Did you even read the article? The author of the "Idiot" entitled post was referring to the article that these comments are about.

He/she was referring specifically to the "Lava-hot" comment in the first paragraph of the article as well as the first paragraph of the MacNN summary.
