Emagic optimizes Logic Platinum 6.2 for G5

Apple's Emagic today released is required when running Logic on the G5.

Apple says that musicians will experience a "dramatic" increase in both speed and performance when using the combination of Logic Platinum 6.2 and the G5: "The ability to work on noticeably larger projects than ever before, including more software instruments, audio tracks and effects plug-ins, expresses more clearly than ever both the expanding potential of native music and audio production, as well as Emagic's and Apple's ongoing commitment to the professional creative community."

"The G5 is a dream machine for musicians," says Dr Gerhard Lengeling, Emagic co-founder and Chief Architect Audio Applications. "The introduction of the first 64 Bit desktop processor means a huge step towards an integrated computer-based native music production system. One that includes software instruments, composing and post-production tools. As a musician you will experience an incredible performance boost. Not only CPU-hungry plug-ins, obviously, but also those functions which require moving lots of audio data in RAM benefit greatly from the extremely fast new bus architecture."

    Un-Logical app

It really sucks that Apple bought and is developing an app which with such a steep learning curve. The app really makes you jump through hoops compared to Digital Performer or Cubase!

When do we get the update (read: overhaul) which really makes this program worthy of the Apple namesake???

    Hmm

I like Logic alot. I haven't checked any recent version of Cubase but I've heard so many complaints about it, specially about stability, I remain skeptical. I've never used Digital Performer, so I wouldn't know. This being said, I don't see how Logic could have become so popular if it didn't have any qualities.

    **** Emagic & Apple ****

I have been using Logic since version 2.0 and have also used competitor products as well. BTW, Emagic is developing the app, not apple, from what I understand. With all due respect to the competition, I find Logic superior in fullfilling my musical and technical needs when composing, recording and other other audio manipulative application.

    No flame war please...

Logic comes fully documented and I urge you , if you haven't, to read the manual several times. Personally, after doing 12 albums with Logic Audio Platinum, I find Logic extremely intuitive but due understand your outcry of frustration when first getting to know the program.

All my best to you, Logic and Apple are super tight now and it's full steam ahead for this utterly amazing duo!

    un-logical app

My whole point is that most musicians can jump into Digital Performer and Cubase and start making music almost immediately. (very intuitive interface & set-up) The fact that you say one needs to fully delve into the Logic manual just to get started is a testiment to the app's un-logical approach, hence my past frustrations with the program. (I've never seen a trade mag review any version of Logic and not bring up this point)

While I understand the app's home amung pro engineers, as a musician, I just want create music easily without keeping a manual on my lap and worrying about how to use the "tools" in front of me.

I won't carry on further as this topic has been discussed to death in other forums, but I'm wondering if Apple will ever update/revamp Logic to rival the ease-of-use of other pro audio apps or just leave it in eMagic's hands indefinitely??

    Logic is the Best.

I have never had this sort of problem with Logic, I have always found logic to be incredibly intuitive, even prior to delving into the manual.

Best wishes to you and your DP and Cb users, these are all great tools for us audiophiles to use, I just, very strongly, prefer Logic. I think Logic is the best pro audio app available today.

    Peace!

    Simple thoughts

Maybe Logic is simply not designed for musicians. It could just be for sound technicians and engineers or musicians with professional technical/engineering training and they're just marketing to everyone to make more money.

    think German

    Logic is not intuitive.
I hope I can get the hang of it this year though.
Has to better than Cubase 5.1.(5.2 was never released).

I'm happy for platinum users- But shouldn't Emagic have released Sound Diver for OSX before working on G5 compatibility ??
It's Emagic that has me trapped in OS9...waiting...& waiting.....

all the whiners should check out soundtrack
I can't believe what I am reading - you wouldn't expect to pick up a violin and start playing like Isaac Stern?
I wouldn't expect to jump in the cockpit of a 747 and fly without crashing -

I wouldn't expect to jump in the cockpit of a 747 and fly without crashing - Logic Platinum is a deep program made for Professionals - I've worked with every major piece of recording software and I consider Logic to be the most elegant, efficient and powerful app
