    Fox News, huh?

How did they manage to blame this rift between Apple and Apple Corps on the Democrats?

    Oh for the love of....

This came up several times before, once with the Ensoniq chip that got stuffed into the Apple IIGS. It got settled. This will too. Apple Records has a long lineage that at this point has very little new blood - and there is no longer much chance of trademark dilution or confusion. Especially since Apple Corps sole function is to use and publish the *performances* of the Beatles' members - since Michael Jackson controls the licensing of the songs (he bought ATV music which included the Beatles library). The directors of Apple Corps are/were Yoko, George, Ringo, And Paul, 25% each. Dunnno what happened to George's shares after his death. But it seems that this is realy about the licensing agreement for the name and any future product of the members, not necessarily about the historical songs up to '74, which it seems ATV Music has say over, and they're really part of Sony. There may be more links than that between the two interests, but it's hard to untangle from publichsed material.

    Sosumi...

...or could those alleged talks be about something quite the opposite, like Beatles recordings coming to the ITMS? OK, not likely, but just a thought...

    well...

Apparently, Apple Records Inc. to this day made more money out of agreements (with Apple) than by selling Beatles records (not to be mixed up with the EMI/Beatles deal). All begun when Apple choose the name Apple - they had to agree on not being involved in/with music business. Then at some point Apple added Midi and then Record-in possibilities...uh-oh settlements were (read: money) been done again. AFAIK this has been a pretty regular thing going on - on a pretty regular basis with every new inroad Apple made in music/audio business/environment. I think the coolest way to end this rather expensive story would be if Apple just bought Apple records - selling dem CDs exclusively on the iTMS. /EOS.

    Beatles' recordings

I could be wrong here, but I think that Apple Corps actually still owns all Beatles' recordings made after the Sgt Pepper album, with EMI owning that and pretty much everything they did before.

The publishing rights of the Lennon/McCartney songs and the rights of Beatles' recordings of them are two different things. What Jackson bought was the former. So, if Apple wanted to release the Beatles catalog on iMS, they would be talking to EMI and Apple Corps.

    The who?

Come on Beatles - it's over already. Let something fresh and exciting have a chance to enrich peoples lives, like easily accessible music online from a company that cares about something other than dollar signs!!
