    Excellent Reception Boost

I just installed the firmware update and it made an incredible difference. I can't figure out why. Maybe my initial settings or config. was messed up but wow - I am at least 50 feet away from the base which is also two floors below me in my house and my TiBook G4 is registering 20% better reception quality.

if you have a Ti book, then you don't have airport extreme...why install? it showed up for my iBook as well, but the text says for extreme clients and base stations. any other thoughts on wheter to install it anyway?

    re: what the...?

i have a TiBook as well, so no, i don't have airport extreme card in the laptop either.. but my base station is airport extreme.... so yes, this update does help those folks. It helped me regarding neighboring interference i was getting (apartment neighbors with 2.4GHz phones, etc)..

    thank you apple

    re: problems

No problems to report here. Extreme base and TiBook with the old style Airpoke.

    Still good / great

I still have strong, fast(er) connection since yesterday; I do remember the original dropouts when AEBS came out, but new firmware updates have solved the unplug/replug days of yore.

BTW, to the person quoted in the article (from yeterday) -- you might have an antenna problem in the laptop you are using; I managed an iBoook lab, and a couple were serviced the first year (under warranty) due antennal connecctors around the hinge wearing down / crimping. Good luck; maybe it is a problem elssewhere . . .
