    Public Beta 1-2 punch

    1) No new hardware works with Public Beta.
    2) Public Beta does not work with new Classic OS release.

Well, at least Final is only 2 months away (if they make the March 24th date)...

    That is OK

I would not expect anything different. After all, OS X PB is, well, a Public Beta ! It was aimed at a specific segment of the Mac population to help Apple improve their upcoming (key word) OS.

Anyway, there is only 2 months until the final release of X. And we can all wait 2 more months : after all, Apple has been promising a next version revolutionnary super duper system software ever since... 1993 (Blue, Pink, Copland, Rhapsody...) So I guess now that OS X is truly here, let us all relax and smile.

    And wait.

    ;-)

    If I must...

I'm mostly relaxed, and mostly smiling...

I just ordered a DP 533 from the Apple Store which is supposed to ship in 21 days. I've been running X PB since September, and I really like it. The improvements shown during the keynote really impressed me, and I can't wait. Hopefully, the 2 month wait for X won't kill me.

    Apple sanctioned

The difference between supported and hackable is huge. But in terms of development, Apple is WAY past public beta these days, so no biggie. By the time you actually GET the hardware, it will only be a few weeks away, right? :-)

    g4s will be compatible...

I'm sure supply of the new G4 chips is constrained. So... by the time the new machines actually ship, Mac OS X will be out the door as welll... =p
