Nvidia on the Mac

updated 05:03 pm EST, Tue January 9, 2001

As noted in MacNN's coverage of this morning's keynote address at Macworld Expo San Francisco 2001, Apple will be including the Nvidia GeForce 2 MX graphics card in the company's top three Power Mac G4 models. The new models feature the UMA-2 motherboards which includes a 133 MHz system and memory bus as well as a 4x AGP slot and support for "write-combining" -- a feature highly requested by the now defunct 3dfx Interactive. The importance of write combining to graphics card performance is explained in our interview with Bryan Speece.

    How do we choose?

So now that us Mac users have a choice in BTO graphics cards, which one is better? Is the nVidia card supported in current Mac games?

    GForce-MX manufacturer?

So who's manufacturing the Geforce cards for these new Mac
models? Apple? I thought Nvidia just made chips and reference
    boards?
