Fuji debuts new FinePix digital cameras

Fuji Photo Film today announced its flagship FinePix S7000, a 6 megapixel camera that offers "the highest" resolution image files available to consumers. Other new cameras from the company include the FinePix S5000 ($500) with 10x optical zoom, the FinePix A310 ($300) with its advanced CCD, and two new digital cameras for consumers--the 2.1MP FinePix A205 ($280) and the 3.2MP FinePix A210 ($300). The FinePix S7000 ($800) will ship in October, while the others are expected to be available next month.
The uses Fuji's new high-resolution chip, which provides 12 million recorded pixel output. It also features advanced exposure control and wide aperture 6x optical zoom and 3.2x digital zoom in a compact SLR-inspired styling. The FinePix S7000 offers 6.3 million effective pixels, which can produce images of 4048x3040 for prints up to 20"x30" in size. The camera measures 4.8 (W) x 3.2 (H) x 3.8 (D) inches, and weighs 17.6 ounces without batteries and media.
It also includes an array of full manual controls, including a range of special shooting modes (continuous focusing, continuous five frame 12MP shooting, auto bracketing and custom white balance), custom shutter speed and aperture range, and the ability to capture images in CCD-RAW format.
The FinePix S7000 has dual slots for xD-Picture Card and Microdrive and offers full VGA movie recording at 30 fps. It is bundled with a 16MB xD-Picture Card, four AA alkaline batteries, shoulder strap, USB cable, AV cable, FinePix Viewer, and ImageMixer VCD for FinePix. The camera will be available for purchase in October 2003 for $800.
FinePix S5000 SLR offers 10x optical zoom
The 3.1 megapixel FinePix S5000 offers a 10x optical zoom and 2.2x digital zoom (at 1280 x 960 pixels) housed in traditional body and large lens. It features full manual controls as well as the ability to capture QVGA digital video at 30 fps with sound. It is bundled with four AA alkaline batteries, a 16MB xD-Picture Card, USB cable, AV cable, shoulder strap, FinePix Viewer, and ImageMixer VCD for FinePix. It is expected to ship next month for $500.
FinePix A310 features advanced sensor technology
Fuji's FinePix A310 is a stylish point-and-shoot camera with the company's fourth-generation Super CCD HR (High Resolution) sensor technology also found in its higher-end cameras. The 3.1 megapixel camera offers a 3x optical and 2.9x digital zoom and several special shooting modes, including landscape, night scene, sport and portrait offerings, as well as top- and final-frame continuous shooting at 3 fps, while Photo mode offers chrome (high color) or black/white photos.
The compact camera (3.8" x 2.5" x 1.3") weighs 5.5 ounces without batteries and media and can capture AVI digital video with sound at 320x240 resolution. It is compatible with Fujifilm's new universal CP-FXA10 Picture Cradle, which acts as a platform for easy downloading, battery recharging and PC-Cam Internet video conferencing. The cradle includes a Fujifilm rechargeable NH-10 Ni-MH battery.
The FinePix A310 is bundled with a 16MB xD-Picture Card, two AA alkaline batteries, USB cable, video cable, wrist strap, cradle adapter, FinePix Viewer, and ImageMixer VCD for FinePix. It is due in August for $300.
Point-and-Shoot digital cameras for "everyday photographers"
Fuji also launched the FinePix A205 and FinePix A210 digital cameras for consumers--both of which work with Fujifilm's optional universal CP-FXA10 Picture Cradle. The 2.0 megapixel FinePix A205 offers 3x optical and 2.5x digital zoom, while the 3.2 megapixel FinePix A210 has a 3x optical and 3.2x digital zoom. Both offer 10 fps AVI movie-recording capabilities, special shooting modes, and Fuiji's FinePix 4.0 viewer software. The stylish, compact cameras will be available next month for $200 (A205) and $280 (A210).

will barely hold one or two pictures from this new camera - why don't they supply you with the 512 mb XD card at a bare minimum?
