G4 Cube maintains strong following

Apple's distinctive Power Mac G4 Cube has achieved " in death," according to Wired News writer Leander Kahney. "Though discontinued three years ago, Apple's Power Mac G4 Cube commands a strong -- almost fanatical -- following," says Mr. Kahney, referring to the premium prices on eBay, thriving trade in aftermarket upgrades, and dedicated owners. Many owners are "going to extreme lengths" to keep their much-loved machines current, including installing water-cooled dual-1GHz processors.

    The cube blows

Its too small, you can't add PCI cards for expanded video or storage, you can't add extra hard drives. And it was way overpriced and still is. We don't need c*** like this! Apple, listen up! We need a Power Tower. One with 10 slots and 20 bays. Allow me to put in 12 DVD burners if I want, all which should work with iDVD. We need expansion capabilities, like 8 GB of memory, and 6 hard drives. Add a big ol' processor, L3 cache, Radeon graphics card, on-board dolby sound, gigabit ethernet. And sell it all for less than $600. That's what you need to do to raise market share. Give people what they want!!!

    No Fan, Can't blow

Everyone knows that the Cubes don't have fans. They can't blow without a fan.

    What I want

I want a 30Ghz G7 with 1TB of RAM for under $600. And a pony. Without a pony, Apple is just s******* over its customers.

    Appel Insider?

If you have the inside scoop at Apple, I imagine you might be able to spell and type it properly?

    Special Edition G5

I'd pay an extra $500 over the price of a single-processor tower to own a (fanless) G5 Cube to replace my existing G4 Cube. Call it a "G5 Special Edition" or "20th Anniversary Apple" or something to keep the media naysayers off Apple's back, but bring back something small, compact, and separate from the display!

    RE: Special Edition G5 -

Sure, you say this now. But if Apple came out with this, it would bring out the "Great idea, but way too much" crowd, like the original cube did.
