updated 12:00 pm EST, Tue January 9, 2001

Extensis Product Group today announced new desktop and network versions of Suitcase and Portfolio, its font and digital asset management product lines and support for Quark Xpress in its online preflighting solution:

  • Portfolio 5 Desktop Edition ($100) is a standalone asset management application for cataloging and retrieving digital files; it can create customizable thumbnail borders and slideshow presentations. The Network Edition ($200) adds advanced client/server functions, optional connectivity to SQL databases, file sharing over the Web and across networks, multi-page previews, data import, and advanced search functions.
  • Suitcase 9 Desktop Edition ($80), a standalone font management utility, allows you to preview, organize and activate fonts; create font sample pages; and create sets based on any criteria. Suitcase 9 Network ($130) additionally offers sharing capabilities for workgroups, including sychronization of fonts and other shared files such as graphics, photos and text files.
  • Preflight Online, its web-based pre-flighting solution, can remotely inspect and analyze QuarkXPress 4.x files as well as PDF files, reporting on more than 60 different potential problems involving fonts, colors, images and other document specifications and providing an online report that can be accessed by printers and service bureaus before customers submit files for output at the printers. It is now in beta.
