    Burlingame, CA

Burlingame is very close to San Francisco Airport. There is even a free shuttle to the shopping district for people with lay overs at SFO.

For me it's even better - 3 blocks from the house! My credit cards will never be safe.

    bleh.

Another day, another apple store. Too bad there's still not one 15 minutes from my house. Until then, Apple Stores are worthless to me. Still buying s*** through mail order just like I did in the 80s.

Why the f*ck can't apple put their stuff in normal computer stores like everyone else?

You should go if you can

Never thought I'd go to a grand opening event, but since it was held at the new store in the town where I grew up (plus a free t-shirt helped me get my sorry soul up early), I made the drive to Walnut Creek last saturday morning.

Overall, a very nice experience -- I'd recommend at least once in your life experiencing the 'coolness' of a new store, as well as that hey-we're-400th-in-line-chatting-with-a-stranger-yet-also-fellow-Mac-enthusiast feeling. It felt like lining up for a rock concert (and everyone gets to wear the t-shirt the next day). This Apple Store is pristine, very hands-on, and just had that exciting "1st Day / 1st Hour" feel filled with people who you knew were there for more than just a free t-shirt.

I think my favorite things were the inclusion of the new iSight cameras activated in various corners of the store (and roaming atop powerbooks, too), the iPod / iTunes Music Store displays, and also the prevalence of dozens of (extra) employees -- many from other stores were there to help -- who really made an increased support presence and feeling of community throughout the store.

Please feel free to share this link for my photos of a really nice store opening: http://www.tomatoweb.com/~jasgen/WalnutCreekJuly12/

The comment about Apple placing their stuff in "normal" computer stores like everyone else is a road already traveled. Apple has learned through the years that most "normal" retailers will not give the Mac it's due, and they have been frustrated by everyone from BestBuy to CompUSA. While you can still find Apple products in some of these "normal" stores, the Apple Stores represent a venue where the Mac user can find exactly what they need, and Apple can control what is being done with their merchandise. Anyone who has tried to get a decent Apple related shopping experience at one of these "normal" computer stores knows exactly why Apple has chosen this path. If there isn't one close to where you live, then the previous post is likely correct, move from Bumf*ck to a inhabited locale and you'll likely find an Apple Store nearby, otherwise, keep watching for that big brown truck.
