Other World Computing has begun shipping an 800MHz G4 processor upgrade for the Power Mac G4. It is the latest in OWC's popular Mercury Extreme line and is available immediately for $270. The Mercury Extreme processor upgrades are "true plug-and-play solutions" that do not use or require enabling software. The Mercury Extreme G4 processor upgrades feature 256 Kilobytes of 1:1 L2 cache on-chip and 2 Megabytes of high-speed L3 cache. Also shipping are Mercury Extreme G4 1.26GHz and 1.467GHz models priced at $500 and $690, respectively.
