Other World Computing (OWC) today announced it has begun shipping its first portable storage drive. The drive features 8MB of cache and is available with a FireWire-only interface ($420) or with both FireWire and USB 2.0 interfaces ($430). The FireWire interface supports both a powered (6-pin) and an unpowered (4-pin) port. Weighing 11 ounces and measuring only 3.5" x 5.5" x 1.0", the portable drives are fitted in shock absorption casing and feature a cool blue activity indicator light, near-silent drive operation, two FireWire ports and bus-power support. Cables and drive formatting software are also included.
