Extensis today launched pxl SmartScale 1.0, a new Photoshop plug-in for increasing the resolution of digital images without compromising quality. Leveraging Celartem's advanced scaling technology (PixelLive), it offers easy, intuitive image scaling up to 1600% with "no discernable loss in printed quality," according to the company. SmartScale increases image resolution while preserving the original color brightness and edge geometry. It features control over sharpness, edge contrast, and edge detail as well as a crop tool. The English version is available immediately for $200, while competitive upgrades are $170.
