Sendstation Systems today announced the , a companion for Apple's 3G (third-generation) iPod. The PocketDock is "smaller than a box of matches and allows a standard 6-pin FireWire cable to connect to the iPod’s proprietary docking port. As an additional benefit, the PocketDock lets you use accessories with your new iPod that were designed for previous models, such as car chargers." It will be available later this month for $17, but is available for pre-order immediately.

    Great

Apple should have made one and bundled it with the iPod, in my opinion. Too bad I just bought a second cable.

    Newton dongle, anyone?

This sure reminds me of the serial dongle on the 2x00 series Newtons. I can't imagine that it was absolutely necessary to use a proprietaty connector like that. Brilliant move, guys.

    Nice

I think the price is great, $17 is nothing, have you looked around to see what other manufactures are charging for their products? This is very reasonable and not price gouging like many of them. Apple had to go with a different connector to move into the windows market more aggressively, many windoze users may buy an iPod, but not if they have to upgrade their hardware too. 90% of the computing world, yeah, you offer them USB 2.0, that's just good marketing.
