Popwire today released a new version of its , a UNIX-based encoder that fully automates the workflow from content ingestion trough to pre-processing and encoding. It offers the ability to output content in multiple formats and bit rates as well as transcoding between different intermediate formats: "The Popwire Compression Engine drastically improves both the production process and performance when encoding high quality content. Popwire Compression Engine runs on a Sun Solaris server and Apple Xserve and is optimized for speed and quality."
