Readers notes exclusive at iTunes Music Store
updated 11:30 am EDT, Tue June 10, 2003
MacNN reader Gabriel Botnick writes: "The released the new Guster album, Keep It Together, today...two weeks before it is released in traditional music stores. It's the complete album for 9.99. Just thought people might like to know that there may be other albums out there like this one." Meanwhile, another reader notes that the soundtrack to Pixar's latest movie is not yet available: "Just saw Finding Nemo this weekend and according to the end credits, the soundtrack is available in stores. I find it odd, however, that it's not available in the iTunes Music Store. Given that Jobs runs both Apple and Pixar, you'd think new Pixar soundtracks would be available right away in the ITMS."

Even though Pixar Animation Studios produced "Finding Nemo", the movie is released through the Walt Disney Studios. The soundtrack was produced by Walt Disney Records. At this time the Walt Disney Company does not have an agreement with the iTunes Music Store.

I love Guster, but I guarantee that the album will be like $6.99 at Best Buy when it comes out.

Steve Jobs can not create unfair business practises just because he is the CEO of 2 companies. When will some of you get it - THEY ARE 2 DIFFERENT COMPANIES!
They have different rules, different policies, different regulations, different contracts. Yes, they even use different computer systems (Pixar is NOT predominantly Mac, but does use quite a few).
Think Different already! He is not a dictator and can not be one, or the Boards would vote him out of both companies.

Does not matter is Jobs is CEO of both or not. Disney locked up the distribution rights to the video and audio for the movie. Disney probably has control over the game rights as well.

I find it odd that Pixar uses PCs instead of Macs even though Steve Jobs runs both companies.

rendezvous

Pixar's render farm is a ton of sun systems.
the modelers are PCs
maya was not available for mac till much later on.
but now that maya can use rendezvous for the render farms, i thing they will go with 970s after the disney contract is up.
and this is not because of steve, but because it will be so much easier to use.
When rendering, rendezvous finds computers not in use and puts them to use.
