Microsoft, which agreed to pay $1.1 billion to settle antitrust claims in California, that would give its software away for free to schools after Apple complained, according to Bloomberg: "Schools that are awarded vouchers under the settlement can now receive any manufacturers' technology product, according to court documents filed in San Francisco. Previously, Microsoft planned to give schools either free Microsoft software or cash to buy any computer products."

I guess this is a good thing... considering they would have basically received all of that money back...

Even if Apple only receives a small part of that $$$, it's better then nothing...

    Shares down 23%?

The article says Apple shares are down 23% this year. Is it just me because I certainly don't remember Apple trading at arount $22-23 this January... maybe they meant shares are up 23%?

    Well....

If Microsoft had been allowed to give them software it would have cost them nearly nothing. 1.1 billion dollars worth of licenses is actually only worth as much money as the paper it's written on and M$ could actually write that amount off and make money on the deal.

    re: shares down

Perhaps they meant in the 52 week people. AAPL was above 23 last June.

    Someone is stupid

Someone is REALLY stupid, but at least our state finally did something right...

Now if only we didn't have people like the idiot running the IT department at Glendale schools, who tried to get rid of macs by a BS report that showed they were more expensive to maintain... :) HAHAA

Is this $$ avail. yet ?

Would love to apply for a Mac server for our Mac lab with this kind of ticket; esp now that our dist. only supports Pee Seas now. Any info yet about how to apply? Thanks . . .
