Apple store coming to Tucson, AZ

updated 08:50 am EDT, Mon May 26, 2003

MacNN reader Alan Rockowitz notes that Apple is (Schaumburg, IL) today to find out that they were selling many of their demo units and "off the shelf" units for huge discounts. They had a 1 Ghz PowerMac G4 (mirror door) for only $1199, and one of the older iPods (30 Gig) for $299. If you don't mind a little dated equipment, many other Apple Stores may be having similar clearinghouse items."

    St. Louis Apple Store

The Saint Louis Apple Store has a 'clearance rack' that only comes out once in a while (I think the last weekend of the month). I've frequented it each time its been out...

I've bought an Airport Extreme Base Station at a $25 discount and noticed that this weekend they had an ibook and an imac (first time I've noticed machines on the clearance rack).

They were also getting rid of an enormous amount (maybe a half a dozen, at least when I was there) old version iPods.. I didn't look at the prices...it would have depressed me too much. :)

    30 Gig = new

The 30 GB iPod is new, and wouldn't be selling for $299. I think you meant 20 GB. MacNN needs a new editor.

    CANADA!

I'm going to hold me breath until we get an Apple Store in Canada... - if I die I'm going to be really mad, Steve!

    Where in Tucson?

Im hoping its Park Mall (oh excuse me 'Place'), and not Tucson Mall or Foothills Mall ... El Con might be OK ..

Or maybe they will go for one of the 5 million smaller malls?

    Probably Park Place

El Con is run down, Foothills is mostly outlet stores, maybe Tucson Mall. But Park Place looks the best and thats what Apple likes. Either way its great news for Tucson but I bet CompUsa and that store on Prince aren't too happy about it. Fine with me..CompUsa has the worst service known to man.

    f*** Canada

Why don't you guys just create your own computing platform instead of bitching about not having American stores?

I'm thrilled you guys are out of the playoffs.

It's amazing how Canadians can be so arrogant when they rely on U.S. technology and companies so much. I guess you are just bitter and envious. Maybe after a summer of no tourism from the U.S. you'll stop electing politicians who run on anti-American platforms.

In another two months we'll be reading the headlines - France and Canada realing from low turnout for summer tourism from America.

At least the Canadians can be happy with their SARS and Mad Cow disease. Please, use some hygiene Canada.

    shut-up

Ah, America, the land of no respect. Stop b****ing about other countries until you realize our own problems.

...Besides, the Blue Jays kicked the Yankees in the butt by sweeping them last weekend. So ha. Take that, Yankees!

Yankees are still ahead of the BJs, like most of the league.
