New Apple spec commercial depicts a Mac world

updated 01:27 am EST, Mon January 8, 2001

Douglas Bania has put together his own Apple spec commercial dubbed "iRoom." The 30 second commercial was edited on a Power Mac G3 using Media 100 and illustrates how easy the world could be if everything were powered by Macs.

    "Commercial"

Quite entertaining. I can't wait for the "Aqua" version, set underwater, with or without a treasure chest full of genies.

    That is REALLY cool!

That's an excellent example of what just one guy can do with a Mac and a little inspiration- excellent job! It's a nice little light-hearted commercial. Haven't really seen a Mac portrayed like that before. Neat!!

    Bravo!

While I am of the camp that thinks Apple's commercials need to be more hard-hitting not less, this was a fantastic effort that Apple should seriously consider adapting. It could be part of a series that highlights things done with, or made on, Macs.

    Very nice

Great message. Great way to get it across. Maybe an Airport II feature - telekineticomm.

Two thumbs up. I nominate this for a Clio.

    adorable

I like it. having done some student video work myself, I'm interested in how he created it. having a room slightly more messy than hers, I'm very interested if this could be done in real life.

It's nice since it really taps into the female market. I believe the market that was untapped by the imac and ibook were momm, sisters, and daughters alike. At least if my family proved an example, it is :-). Show this commercial on lifetime and I wonder if apple would drive sales again.

Oh yeah, somebody get this guy a job. :-)

    iRoom advert

Great ad, I thought "If only everything else in life was as easy as using a Macintosh" would have been a better tag line though. I loved it all the same anyway. Perhaps Chiat Day should offer him a job...

    very cool!!

is this all done in software or do you need special hardware to do this, besides DV cams and firewire?

also is it available in a higher res?

    Better than

The other great advantage is that it does not feature Jeff Goldblum. The comment of the tageting females is a good point. I always feel that the iMac DV is aimed at the Dad who owns lots of other gadgets so he can make video of his kids who go "yeah that's boring dad".
Good special effects too. Apple wouldn't like it though, nade on hardware that he should've upgraded by now to fit in with their current business model.

    Well done.
