I have just got v74 via Software Update at half-past midnight, UK time. This is unusual on two counts: I don't recall Safari betas coming via Software Update before, and this one updated my v73 application in situ, instead of requiring me to trash the older version and replace it with the new one.

First of all, Software Update will update beta software if you install the software first yourself. Second of all, for those of you who don't see the update in your SU...I bet if you put Safari.app into your Applications folder on your OS X Startup Disk SU will see the update.

Software Update has always updated Safari, it even offers it to you if you don't have it installed. And the updates have always been in situ, no removing by hand first. The only catch is that the application quits without any warning if you're using it midway of the optimization process.

Safari (74) does come to you through software update. As did (v73). That is how I got mine

Safari (73) *is* in my applications folder on my startup drive and it is not in a sub folder of the applications folder. I had the same trouble with iTunes 4, I had do download it off the website as apposed to software update because it doesn't like my computer or something (that's probably the real reason :-) ). This isn't a new peoblem for me either, since I have been using OS X, software update has missed about 1/2 the updates that are put on it and I leave all Apple software in the folder that it defaultly installs to, unless, like safari, it installs on the desktop.

Try clicking on the right-arrow button...the frames have loaded,
and if you click repeatedly on the button they advance.

Other weather animations work fine, I have no idea why weather.com is different.

Okay, I think I got it.

When I last Downloaded Safari (Beta 2) I did it from Apple's site, not SU. It installed as "Safari 2". I removed the 2 from the name and Software update showed the Safari update right away.

yeah man, software update DOES update beta software. Especially if it's from apple.

After updating to this latest version it felt sluggish, so I trashed the.plst and other pref's and lost my previous Favorites that Safari had automatically imported. To my surprise there is no "Import Favorites" so I am having to drag one "Favorite" at a time from my IE Favorites folder. It won't even allow me to drag a whole folder with Fav's in it. Anyway, I wish there was an easier, faster way of bringing in all my Favorites from another browser.

BTW, after trashing the pref's, Safari is definitely faster! It's so cool having not to use MS IE! That was the only MS piece of software on my Mac. Actually it's still there, for the occasional boot into OS9.

Apple - An "Import Favorites" option would be quite welcomed to an already spectaculiar browser.

Why does Safari pop up with the window "Safari wants permission to decript item Safari Forms Autofill in keychain.....? How can I sopt this?

Click the "Always allow" button. Does that work?

Its probably another security thing, as some louzers have posted how Apple's keychain is open by default, and as such anyone using your computer can go to any of your web sites (apparently its OK they're using your computer, and you don't want to spend the three seconds to lock the keychain, so its an Apple problem).

I didn't have the update show up, but moving Safari into the Applications folder from the subfolder internet solved the issue. I got the update.

you must have a system issue, safari loads both websites just fine and just fast. stop displacing the blame.

SW Update worked fine on my G4, as the matter of fact I wouldn't have even noticed the update without it. The only limitation I found with the update is my CITIBANK account is still limited in its responsiveness towards Safari. Rather I have to fire up explorer, not too much of a hassle but...

Well, as with the previous new versions, this latest release still won't run on my Dual G4/450 with 640mRam. Removing the preferences did not help. The new Safari makes a new .plst file, the unexpectedly quits. That leaves me at 1.0betaV6.0

If you wish to use Safari to preview Dreamweaver pages (from within Dreamweaver) avoid this update at all costs. The last version worked fine. This one requires you to quit Safari after every single preview.
