Logitech tomorrow will , according to The Register: "Sources close to the company say the drivers, which work with Mac OS X's Image Capture application and iPhoto, will be offered free of charge as a download from the company's web site. It's not clear at this stage whether Logitech will bundle the new drivers with the camera and brand it as a Mac-compatible product." The 0.5in-thick Pocket Digital offers 1.3 megapixel resolution (up to 640x480) and uses software to automatically adjust the image in overly dark or bright conditions. The USB-based camera can store up to 52 photos.

and use it with my PC at work. the quality is ABYSMAL. the "shutter speed" must be slow cuz you have to be incredibly still otherwise the pictures blur easily.

    Glad to hear it!

I don't have a digital camera yet, and I might not ever buy this one, but I'm glad to hear that this camera is getting drivers for X at last. I always see it in the store and think that it would be the perfect pocket camera, but until now I knew that Mac users wouldn't be able to enjoy that.

Speaking of this Logitech camera... wouldn't it be the ultimate in geek chic to have one alongside a 12" PowerBook? I imagine that most people who can afford the PowerBook can afford more than the Logitech, but hey - they match.

    Pentax Optio S, too

The Pentax Optio S is higher-end in features and cost, but also tiny: SMALLER than a business card or credit card, and just a bit thicker (at its thickest, when turned off) than the Logitec: a little over 3/4".

It's 3.2 megapixels with 3x optical zoom, red-eye flash, slideshow-output to TV, limited 12fps video capability with built-in mic, highly customizable settings and interface, 1.6" LCD, OS X-ready out of the box, rechargeable, and made of aluminum--a good PowerBook companion.

Worth looking into--I've had mine a week and I love it. Quality is great. Images are 2048x1536, and capacity with Best JPEG is over 100 shots once I added a $60 256MB SD card. (Capacity at 640x480 with more compression is over 2000 shots!)

    Picture size

why is the picture size only 640x480 if the CCD has 1.3 megapixels?

    Resolution

Something's up -- because 640x480 is closer to 0.3 megapixels, not 1.3 megapixels.

    One Megapixel?!

C'mon. That's awfully low resolution even for a camera this size. I would think that Casion Xilim would be a much better choice. Credit-card size camera, 3x optical zoom, 3.2 megapixel images.

    Logitech / OS X

Has anyone noticed that they have yet to release any OS X software for their desktop video cameras? They've had a note on the site for almost a year saying that they have no OSX support at all

    Casio Exilim

It's better, has a higher resolution (2.1 megapixels) and has a lot of features. Sam size at around $250.

    Resolution

The Logitech web site says the 1.3Mpix is software interpolated from 640x480, presumably on the camera, since it impacts storage capacity. Ideally, they're making use of some knowledge of the sensor in doing this, but it's still not 1.3Mpix.
