Apple's Phil Schiller says the iTunes Music Store is designed as , according to a BusinessWeek Online interview: "e're not looking at it in terms of a stand-alone business. It's part of all the things we're doing at Apple. And first of all, I hope it can drive more iPod business....In addition, it's part of the whole digital-life strategy, and it has been very successful for us. iTunes has become the most popular application used by Mac customers -- more popular than mail or word processing. To date, we have distributed 20 million copies of [iTunes software]. I explain that as a way to point out that digital-lifestyle applications are becoming a reason for purchasing a computer. And music is probably the most important one."

    Apple is ALMOST THERE

I think the missing piece is now the hardware. (I know this isn't a new issue) OS 10.2 is great, and 10.3 should be amazing, iLife is on target (basically 1.0 of iLife is out, can't wait to see everything in a year or two when they all have more functionality.

All we need is something on par with Intel to show the world what we have all known all along.

    Schiller

The same moron spoutings Schiller uses for every damned product rollout. Can't the man ever think up something new, or does he always use the same PR template for his statements?

    What a moron, a downright a******.

    Rich morons

Richest moron: Steve Ballmer - $10B or so.

For NOTHING other than he's the only human being willing to be friends with Bill Gates.

    How sad is that?

    Re: Schiller

Aw, give the guy a break. He's the marketing VP for Apple - what exactly do you expect the guy to say? This kind of PR is his JOB!

I don't see how doing your job (yes, even if it becomes repetitive to others listening in) makes somebody an a****** or moron. You need to relax a bit.
