Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 Coming to the Mac

updated 11:11 am EST, Fri January 5, 2001

As reported in the February 2001 edition of MacAddict, Activision is reportedly close to finding a developer to port Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 to the Mac. The skateboarding game has appeared on nearly every gaming platform except the Mac including Playstation, DreamCast, Gameboy Color and PC. Hawk, a long-time Mac user himself with a home video setup that includes a PowerBook G3, Power Mac G4 Cube and 400 MHz Power Mac G4, reportedly played a part in pushing Activision to pursue a Mac port of the popular title. Tony Hawk is featured in the magazine in an article sharing his tips for creating action-sport videos.

    Tony

I used to work for Tony. He and his partner, Per Welinder, were the first people to turn me on to Macs. Really Cool people, and very devoted to the Mac platform

    YES!

There is no better news than this, THPS2 is such a great game. I hope they add-in a few things they didn't do on the PC, like netplay (not just LAN only like the pc).

    When?!?!

Well, I've only known about this since I got my copy about 2 weeks ago.. =) But, I really hope we get the editing tools so we can make our own sk8 parks, etc. That would be sweet. =) It is definitely a plus to have such a Mac fan pushing for us! I can't wait..!

    Too late?

I've been playing the original Tony Hawk on my 333mhz iMac for over a year now. The PlayStation version runs extremely well with Virtual Game Station (http://www.connectix.com). I realize the current push is for Tony Hawk 2, but with all the intricacies of the first -- why buy a newer version, even if it's native? (I think it's obvious the developers had no idea there would be ever a sequel, hence the well-rounded original. Too bad we didn't get the Mac port right off the bat!)

    Editing Tools

The editing tools (building a skate park, etc) are part of the game, its not like they'd take that feature out if it were to get ported. And they wouldn't add any new features like LAN play, that stuff never happens with a port.
