Prosoft Engineering has announced a significant increase in the speed of data recovery for its Data Rescue utility. uses a new RAM utilization technique that results in a recovery speed increase of more than 100%. Prosoft has also incorporated a Scan File option, allowing users to save the results of your scan in order to quickly recover additional files in the future. The data recovery update is free to registered users; new licenses are $90. An updated Data Rescue Classic 4.2.1 is also available for Mac OS 8.6/9.

Prosoft has also posted Data Recycler X 1.0.4, a free update to the $50 system application that provides instant undelete that protects the user from accidental file deletion: "By protecting drive space being occupied by deleted files, Data Recycler allows the user to recycle the deleted trash and return all (or selected) files back to the user in perfect condition."
