    Got Mine Too!

Yep, I got my replacement kit this morning too. I was a little shocked to see it!

This is a great thing that Apple is doing.

    Dellwad

Because the overall design is flawed. Though Apple is providing this option, it is not without great apprehension on their part. They screwed up and can't find any other way out of a recall situation without further damaging PowerMac sales. They are paying the price for shipping a less than quality product.

    re: dellwad

q: does the fan cool the g4 within the tolerances prescribed?
    a: yes

q: therefore is the fan defective?
    a: no

q: is it louder than it has to be
a: the opinion of most people is yes

q: what determines the "defectivness" of a machine?

a: the opinion by an individual of a machine's part

b: the ability of its parts to perform its duties, in the case of a fan, its to keep the machine cool and with temp. tolernances

a: unless you are a dellwad, its "b"

ps the new machines have a different fan so how are they "damaging powermac sales' if they are not even on the market?

    Question...

I ordered this upgrade and am curious.... Do we have to return our old power supplies and stuff. I remember hearing the new one is 360W versus 400W. I ordered mine cause I want to run my computer at night doing operations and stuff, but since I am in a apartment and the computer is in my bedroom with me... I usually put it to sleep to keep the noise down. Trust me.... in my small room, it can be heard quite well.

Hopefully I do not have to pay to return the old power supply and such, unless they are shipping a box and shipping label for me to do so.

    Shipping

The $20 covers the shipping cost to have the old parts returned to Apple.

    MDD Power Supply Arrived

I got my MDD kit today too....

Put it in, and it is SUPER quiet....No muss, no fuss....

As for pats rerurn...mine has a "Parts Disposal" page that says "The parts you have replaced as part of this exchange program should be disposed of in accordance with local laws."

    Great job Apple !

    Thanks,

    Andrew

    RE: MDD Power Supply...

    So,...

I do not have to return the parts to Apple if I do not want to, but can just either trash them or find another use for them if I really wanted.

    Interesting :)
