    MS Flaw

How does the ms flaw fit into the category of technology and why does macnn include it in it's new report?
They could replace that nonsense with better news imho.

    Not hackers, crackers

A hacker programs for fun. A cracker breaks into systems. Hackers are responsible for a fair part of the cute software we use, e.g. PHP -- used on MacNN -- that started as a hack. When I say 'started as a hack', nobody thinks the first version of PHP was used to break into a protected system. So why oh why people always mix hackers with crackers?

    Flaw ?

We hear about flaws in Windows just about every week. This one is only the latest, but not the last one I guess

    News?

Why is MS flaw news? I just read the Biz 2.0 magazine and one of its listing is a MS exec that said 'All OS suck" and it's true. We now know that sendmail, SAMBA, etc all have their shares of flaws. MS has more and is certainly inexcusable for that but when's the last time you heard anyone whose computer was taken over by visiting a hacked web site or malformed e-mail etc?

    Re: news?

maybe because not everyone is stuck in their own Mac-only world where they don't have to care about windows. And it usually seems that MS flaws affect ALL users, while flaws found on other sytems (your samba or sendmail examples) usually affect just those systems that have turned on these services.
