updated 07:40 am EST, Fri January 5, 2001

Brother today introduced the HL-1650, which it bills as the world's first sub-$600, 16 ppm laser printer with built-in duplex printing capabilities, which allows for automatic printing to both sides of a page. The $600 black and white printer features a 1200x600 dpi resolution, 8 MB of RAM, and both parallel and USB connectivity. The $750 HL-1650N includes the optional 10/100 TX ethernet interface and 16 MB of RAM. The printer also features optional support for IrDA printing, as well as PostScript 3 support.
