TSStalk to debut at MWSF

updated 06:10 pm EST, Thu January 4, 2001

At Macworld, Thursby Software, best known for DAVE product, will introduce and demonstrate TSStalk, an application that allows Windows machines to access AppleShare and AppleShare IP servers. It also allows access to AppleTalk PostScript printers. The Windows 95/98 version is $150, while the NT version is $170. A Windows 2000 version is in the works.

    Uhhh....AppleShare IP?

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't AppleShare IP already allow connections from Windows clients via SMB?

Similarly, can't Windows clients print to AppleShare IP print queues via LPR?

    No need for correction

You are dead right. Any Windows post 95 can talk to an SMB service, and ASIP does that out of the box. LPR is also OK.

I am guessing that Thursby mean it can talk to machines running IP Personal File Sharing though, which doesn't support SMB connections...?

    Cheers,
    Paul.
