Mobile classroom uses 3G for connectivity

showcases the power of the 3G mobile phone network by connecting 21 Macs located in a mobile classroom to the Internet via the O2 phone network's 3G mobile phone network, which in testing at Isle of Man. The next-generation phone network promises fast net services, video clips and picture messaging on mobile phones.

    What a great thing, not to mention a great way for Apple to get the attention of school districts. Fill a bus with the Apple Store, and take it on the road. The kids will be taling about it for weeks after the bus is gone, and they will realize what a bunch of c*** their Win PCs are....

    I remember an article about this many years ago - the telecomputer bus was part of the Apple Classroom Of Tomorrow (ACOT) project and used to house an Appleshare IP based network with powermacs.

    not exactly.

    what you're using is most likely whats become known in the industry as 2.5G. This test project on the Isle, picked for it's isolation, is a TRUE 3G network, the likes of which are not yet online in the States, which offers pretty incedible speed. As much as I love the service I get thru my Vision handset on my laptop, it certainly wouldnt be adequate to distribute to a network like they're doing...

    errr u have 3G ??

    can u explain how u got 3G ? and whos the service provider .?? if u are in the UK u might have 3G if ur a tester but if not then u aint got it cos the only service provider lauching it NOW is "3" by hutchinson telecom and if u ask me its far too expensive for even a gimmick lover !!
