Invensys debuts UPS network monitor cards

Invensys Powerware has introduced new versions of ConnectUPS-X and ConnectUPS-BD Web/SNMP cards, which provide SNMP, HTTP, SMTP, WAP and Telnet compatibility and advanced RS232 communications for monitoring, management and safe shut down or re-boot of UPS-protected servers, routers, hubs and other key inter-networking devices. The company also introduced a rackmount server starting at $330.

The network card functions as a network hub with three additional built-in network connections, Both cards feature instantaneous network-wide visibility via its free Multiview software, web compatibility through standard browsers, SNMP monitoring and notification, and a system manager to initiate the shutdown/reboot of a UPS as well as Netwatch for the the shutdown of connected computers.


ConnectUPS-X supports all UPS products listed with an X-slot communications device, while ConnectUPS-BD adapter is designed to work specifically with the Powerware 9120 and Powerware 9170+. For UPS models that do not come with standard X-slots, these may be added with the Powerware Expansion Chassis.

Mac OS X versions of the ConnectUPS cards are $300 and include NetWatch client software, MultiView monitoring software and the upgrade utility and are available for immediate shipment.

Invensys also introduced the new Powerware 5115 rack mount UPS. With a space-saving design of only 1U (1.75 inches), it provides power protection systems for systems from 500 VA to 1500 VA and adapts to both 19-inch and 23-inch racks; it can be mounted to the wall, side cabinet (Zero U), and bench top applications. It features Advanced Battery Management system (which doubles battery service life), can manage multiple devices with one UPS, offers buck and boost voltage regulation, has hot-swappable batteries, and offers standard USB and RS232 serial ports as well as bundled power management software and X-Slot connectivity. Pricing starts at $330.
