's Maya is Software was used in the creation of three of the short-listed for an Oscar in the "Best Visual Effects" category by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, according to the Toronto-based developer. Winners will be announced at the annual Academy Awards presentation on March 23, 2003, at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. On March 1, 2003 Alias|Wavefront will be awarded an Oscar for Scientific and Technical Achievement for the development of Maya software, the professional 3D animation and effects package. Maya is available for Mac OS X, among many other popular platforms.
