Apple retail stores coming to Mass, Florida

Readers note that Apple is searching for employees for upcoming retail store locations in Chestnut Hill, MA as well as Boca Raton, FL. MacNN reader Benjamin Lowengard describes the possible Chestnut Hill locations: "I'm not sure if it's headed for the Atrium mall or the Chestnut Hill Mall--both of which have many locations for a store. The Atrium is a nicer mall with Williams Sonoma, Borders and a great Vietnamese local restaurant chain. The Chestnut Hill mall has Brooks Brothers, HMV and Bloomingdales." Meanwhile, another reader passed along an unconfirmed report about an upcoming store in Toronto, Canada: "I've heard from a reliable source that a large Toronto store which has been for sale for almost two years has been purchased by Apple. It's on Queen Street East, just east of Broadview, in an area known as the Queen-Broadview Village." [updated]

Free Parking

Both of these malls in Chestnut Hill have FREE PARKING, which is great...the store in Cambridge does not have this.

Also, the article is off about the Atrium...it has a pan-Asian restaurant that is mostly Japanese called Jae's Cafe...unless Pho Pasteur came in, which I don't think they did...Jae's has been there for a while. It also has a Cheesecake Factory.

And Chicago is soon...

That'll be THREE for the Chicago area. Oakbrook mall in the western suburbs, Woodfield mall in the northwest area, and a 10-foot tall Apple logo is emblazoned on the scaffolding surrounding a flagship-sized store on Michigan Avenue. You'll remember this was one of the early locations unofficially talked about, but seemed to keep getting put off. I believe it was due to open last April, and now they've practically dismantled the entire building (a former Gap store.) So it looks like NOW they're serious about it.

Perhaps they'll give up their offices on Wacker Drive and move them into the upper floors of the store on Boul Mich. Consolidating their Chicago operations is a good idea I think, financially.

Too bad they aren't opening it in Ft. Lauderdale instead.

Does anybody know about a store coming to Sacramento, CA? I haven't heard of one but it seems that this is an area of California that they're missing out on (considering there are already eight or so stores in the state).

Queen-Broadview village

Queen-Broadview village is an up-and-coming area. Lots of artists, funky stores, little restaurants. In a few years it will be very trendy; it's already a popular area for singles, young couples, etc. to move into. Lots of great furniture and design stores among other things. It's a great site for Apple to put a store; it will definitely pay off in a few years to have put their store in what will be a very popular, trendy area. Much better than some awful mall like Yorkdale or the Eaton Centre, and Queen West is too "been there, done that" at this point.

The Queen-Broadview area????

The presence of Jilly's (a prominent, shady-looking strip club) and the no-tell motel above it aren't exactly welcoming features of that area of Toronto.

An Apple store in Toronto would be a great idea, but the rumoured location would be the pits. I could see Queen St. WEST, Yonge-Sheppard, Yorkdale Mall or Yorkville, maybe. The upscale Yorkville might be ideal considering Apple's snobbish prices.

Sure, it's going to pi** some of the local donwtown stores off. I think the location they're thinking of is the old 'MacWarehouse' location which used to be the old MacStore under Peter Sever. I heard rumour that MacVillage had purchsed this location after MacWarehouse moved everything to Caterpillar Road mail/phone order only business and left the storefront. The building is not as prestigious as the rest of the AppleStores I've seen, but the location is interesting. I for one could see the store in Yorkdale, Sherway Gardens perhaps- or the old Eaton Centre.....the nearby proximity to 'Jilly's'- home of jello wrestling...laff....I think Apple's people would have it far enough away from there...cuz it ain't no 'Genius Bar' ;)

CambridgeSide is a pain!

Glad to see a store coming on the Boston side of the river. No need to cross into PRC (the People's Republic of Cambridge). There's not much else at CambridgeSide except for the mall. Chestnut Hill has great restaurants, a movie theater, great stores, banks, a supermarket...

Toronto Mac Facility

Thanks for the confusion but although we are a company of Mac geeks who live breath and sleep Mac, we are not Apple.
As the owner of Carbon Computing, www.carbonation.com, I can confirm that we are indeed moving into 772 Queen St. East in Toronto with a proposed grand opening of May 1. We will be the largest Mac facility in Ontario outside of Apple Canada with 14,000 sq. ft. dedicated to all things Mac. We will have a fablous retail space, dedicated corporate sales as well as dedicated Digital Audio and Digital Video demo suites, and conference rooms for Apple related hardware and software ongoing education and training. I highly believe that the new AppleStore will be at rhe Mall at Chestnuthil because the jod description says Chestnut Hill-Chest. Hill-R076, MA, USA not where it sats chest. hill Which may be short fo chestnut hill mall, now look at a cambrige job dsescription Cambridge-Cambridgeside-R021, MA, USA it says cambridgeside which is short for cambridgeside galleria, it is pretty obvious that the Store will be at the mall at chestnuthill
