LaCie has new line of desktop hard drives that support faster 800Mbps FireWire speeds. The new drives range from 200GB to 500GB capacity, have an aluminum casing, have external power to keep the drive cool without the necessity of a noisy fan, and emit up to 50% less noise pollution than traditional external drives. The drives will ship in February 2003 in capacities of 200GB ($480), 250GB ($540), 400GB ($880), and 500GB ($1000).
