Anybody know how this fits with Drive 10? What the point of Drive 10 now?

well now.. this looks pretty spiffy.

now i'd like to see DiskWarrior 3 and i'll be set.. of course this new techtool may begin to erode DiskWarrior's user base(?) Depends on what DW3 has been busy doing this whole time..

    DiskWarrior

What have the DiskWarrior folks been DOING all this time, anyway??? I spoke to their rep at the last MacWorld (NYC) at which time I was told "We should have an OSX version within 6 weeks....maybe sooner" which, of course, was six MONTHS ago. DW is the BEST...but you're right...their inactivity is definitely going to hurt them as users settle on Techtool 4 (assuming it's good)...and if they get hurt, we'll (as users) get hurt. P*sses me off!!!

As far as I can see, TTP4 can't do what DW does: repair the disk directory.

"As far as I can see, TTP4 can't do what DW does: repair the disk directory. "

Directory repair has always been a part of TTP's utility package. When the release mentions "its full battery of tests", it's safe to assume directory repair is still a part of that.

At any rate, i've always found Diskwarrior to be a more powerful directory repair utility. Having TTP4 would certainly not keep me from getting DW3 whenever they finally decide to release it.

    time will tell

i'll wait for some others to jump on this wagon to test it....but the best thing may be the fire lit under diskwarrior....

    Alsoft

I recently had some issues with the current DW.. perfectly dealt with by the good folks at Alsoft, btw. During my conversations with them, of COURSE I inquired about DW3. "A couple of months" was all they would admit.

    Drive 10?

Hmmm, I bought Drive 10 as soon as it was available and it never worked on the Pismo (which always hung and needed disk repair _after_ Drive 10 had done its thing. I didn't want to pay another huge chunk of money when OSX and Drive 10 bumped up versions -- both adopting Microsoft's upgrade pricing policy, I guess. I've stayed with DW which has never failed me yet.

    Looks good

Iv'e been wating for a utility that lets you create a partition
without having to reformat your mac drive. Also been waiting
for a non Norton disc defragmenter for OS X since Alsoft didn't release an OS X native PlusOptimizer yet.

I wonder why Apple hasn't created their own defrag tool
for OS X and why Apple isn't preconfiguring their new machines with an emergency partition on them?
