updated 07:27 am EST, Wed January 3, 2001

Panic has released Audion 2.1, a free upgrade to the popular $20 MP3 player that brings bug fixes as well as a new AIFF encoder (for preparing audio files for CD burning), a SID decoder (for listening to Commodore 64 tunes), "vastly" improved CD playback, an improved control strip module, and expanded help. A limited 15-day demo is available online. The software is also available with an MP3 encoder for $33.
