Several MacNN readers note that the latest issue of PC Magazine contains an advertisement for Gateway, which features an Apple PowerBook G4 being used to listen to music in an advertisement titled "Shoot, Edit, or Jam." We've posted an , which was originally provided to us by MacNN reader Dan Sloan.

Separately, the January 2003 issue of the PC Magazine credits Apple's FileMaker Pro 6 as being superior to Microsoft Access 2002 and five other database products, making it the Editor’s Choice for Personal Databases.

    Stock Photo A-Hoy!

Yeah, Gateway probably never saw this ad as it was probably created by a local shop for the paper it was printed in.. still, PC makers have bup-kiss to show in their print ads cause they ain't got nothing that's pretty, slim, and managable.. advertising is about lying, and Gateway's lying tryin to fool folks into buying their cruddy puters.. how long do you think they have till they go belly up?

It really is lying. I'm not a big fan of litigation, but using thin Apple laptops to sell thick bloated gateways really is a scam.

Apple should at least get on gateways case. After the last couple of months having to listen to why their new flat panel desktop is sooo superior to an imac, and then for this to happen. Blah.

Stock art or not, powerbooks being used to sell gateways is lame.

The more I type the more upset I get. I had better stop here.

    Oh no they DIDN'T!!!

Apple, the news exposure, alone, is worth making a stink over this. C'mon, sue 'em. You've sued for less.

Maybe they had to inlcude a Mac so they could claim "Shoot, Edit or Jam"....

Nah, then it would say "Shoot, Edit and Jam".

    Yes and No

Stock art, Yes. But is it a local shop, No.

It doesn't say "a PC magazine", it says "PC Magazine. I don't think this is for a little area of Iowa. Anybody can pick this up.

Gateway is SOOOOO full of lies. I called them when their Profile came out. I played dumb and asked them all about it. They told me more than 5 blatant lies to try to get me to buy one of their computers and not to buy an iMac.

A few that I recall: It didn't matter if the Mac had an Nvidea GeForce 4 video card because it's processor was too slow to take advantage of it.

DVD RAM is better than DVD-R because it can burn Data and Movies.

Their DVD burner (not in the profile, she has already moved me over to a desktop system because they couldn't match what the iMac had) in their system was more compatible with consumer DVD players than the iMac.
