Custom Spielberg iPod up for auction

Apple recently began offering as well as custom-engraved iPods as a part of its "iPod Corporate Gift" program (available via the Apple Store). A MacNN reader notes that Apple has apparently engraved a limited number of iPods for Steven Spielberg's mini-series "Taken," and that one such iPod is now up for auction on eBay.

Perhaps a nice Fidel Castro iPod should be marketed. It'd have to be priced for the prolotariate, perhaps Apple investors should subsidise it. Better yet, Apple should be made government-run, like Cuba.
As you can see, I wouldn't pay a dime for a Spielberg iPod, and don't much care for him and his politics.

Taken...

Actually, was pretty rockin', if you had the patience to watch all twenty-hours of it and commercials. The storyline is the most interestingly weaved of just about any modern movie, series, or mini-series.

It just rocked.

I did like the comment that the Taken iPod was a transmitter. =)

the trsnamitter comment was the best of the lot :)

I was very impressed with the first week of the series, and wasn't that surprised in the slight downturn in week two - I was expecting it to get more "X-Files"-ish the closer they got to modern day.

Considering the way they anchored the period settings with media from the time (newpaper articles, radio broacdcasts), I'm surprised they didn't include more current references, like "Close Encounters" :)

I'm sorry, but engraved iPods has got to be one of the most moronic things apple marketing has ever come up with.

What idiot actually spends $50 more on top of at $400 mp3 player? It seems, said idiot must not understand the importance of an IPOD CASE. Because, with most normal people, they PUT THEIR IPOD IN A CASE SO IT WON'T BREAK WHEN THEY DROP IT. They put in it's case, and leave it there. Therefore, that means NOBODY IN THE FRICKIN WORLD WILL KNOW THAT THEIR DAMN IPOD IS ENGRAVED. Is that so hard for you idiots to understand? ONLY YOU WILL KNOW YOUR FRICKING IPOD IS ENGRAVED.

Why would you ever get a wedding band engraved? It's hidden in the inside of your ring! Nobody will ever see it except you! Oh yeah...it's because it has meaning and sentimental value.

Apple wants your iPod to have special meaning too. They have done an excellent job of making the iPod the 'classy' mp3 player that people desire. It also doesn't have to be as pricey, but positioning it that way makes it seem like it is the premier mp3 player out there (and it actually is).
