Edel, Napster join forces

updated 05:02 pm EST, Tue January 2, 2001

edel Music AG, the world's second largest independent music label, has agreed to cooperate with Napster around Napster's new membership-based business model. Edel will allow the master recordings and musical compositions it owns or controls to be used for file-sharing under the new service Napster is evolving. [site not updated]

    uhhh

is anyone else getting kinda scared that Napster is selling out? i know it is old news that Napster is turning into this membership thing, but they say on their page that "they aren't gonna do anything without input from us." we all know that no one is really going to say "Please charge me to use this service that used to be free!" Everyone knows that Napster essentially cannot be shutdown since the internet is a global thing. If they were smart, they would put a small one room office in Sweden and call it Napster HQ just to get the US gov't off their back.

    good idea

Have you ever been to sweden? I would prefer Saddam on my back to the swedish government. They are control freaks. Apart from that I agree with what you say.
