Armin Heurich, a school library Media Specialist from let us know that the school district where he works is undergoing a major technology renewal. Nearly $1 million in computer hardware, video equipment, and peripherals have been purchased this year. The majority of computers purchased are either Apple iBook or eMac machines. Several eMac labs have been established, while the iBooks are used primarily by teachers for lesson administration via AirPort. iMovie, and eventually DVD authoring will be taught at the schools. In order to best educate students and faculty, the district uses a "technology mentor" approach, in which 24 teachers are trained with the latest technical skills, which are to be passed on to others at the school level.
