Apple Store coming to Bellevue, WA

updated 08:40 am EST, Tue November 19, 2002

MacNN reader Jason Simmons notes that "Apple has posted in Emeryville (CA):

"The Apple Store in Emeryville (Calif.) is finished, stocked and ready for customers--but the mall is still being completed around it. The store was apparently ready for last week's scheduled opening of the mall, which was delayed to this Wednesday (the Apple Store opens on Saturday). I toured the site and learned the Apple Store is in the northern-most part of the uncovered mall, in between an Express store on one side and Pottery Barn Kids on the next. The mall reminds me of City Walk or similar sites: it resembles a city street (they call it Bay Street), but with no traffic. The store is the narrow, check-out in the back variety, and features an all-glass front, with a huge and impressive brushed-metal finish running from the top of the windows to the roof. All of the computers are in place, the software is stocked, but there are no front window banners yet. And get this: on a Sunday, with construction still taking place, there was a security guard standing watch across from the Apple Store, wearing black pants and a nicely-tailored black cloth jacket, with the Apple logo and 'Apple Security' silk-screened on the front! Pretty impressive."

    Yikes

That's a stick in the eye if ever there was one. Why not just put an Apple store right there on the Microsoft campus!!

    FINALLY!

AT LONG LAST! An alternative to mediocrity that is The Computer Store. Hopefully, the presence of an Apple Store in the Seattle area will either improve the abysmal service at The Computer Store or force them out of business.

    Woo hoo!

Not to mention, we no longer have to drive to Seattle for a Mac experience! And given a choice, I'd rather give my money straight to Apple than through CompUsa. =)

All those cars with Mac's in them going over his bridge all day long......not good.

    Help for the persecuted

Oh, The Computer Store isn't that bad. I've been pleased enough with their service, and their location can't be beat (though I heard rumors that they were moving-- anyone know anything about it?)

It'll be good to have an Apple Store up here at long last, though. Especially for those few and persecuted of us living here on the eastside... over the fell passes of Cirith Ungol (aka 520 bridge), across the barren wastelands of Gogoroth (aka Redmond), near Bill's impregnable fortress of Barad-Dur, in the land of Mordor where the shadows lie...

    Right in MS's back yard!

Haha, that's hilarious. I wonder if Chairman Gates will stop in when it opens.... :-)

    Rejoice

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful news -- I wonder where in Bellevue it will be located? I've envied others who have a local Apple Store and wondered why the Pacific NW was being singled out as a non-location and concluded it was because of the $MS presence. This thought upset me as a Mac user. Being 800 miles from nowhere is still somewhere and Apple has made a good decision IMO. I sincerely welcome the Apple Store to the NW -- about time too.

    About time!

Finally I can stop going to the horrible "Computer Store" and start getting some real customer service and support! I hope they put one right in Seattle though. Bellevue is not far at all though.
