FirewireDirect has begun accepting preorders for its new FireWire DVD-R/RW drive, which features a Pioneer A05 mechanism. The drive maker is reporting high demand for the $400 device, but is also offering a "bare" $325 version of the Pioneer unit, for those who wish to use it internally (iDVD requires an internal drive). The A05 offers a 4X DVD write speed.
