    just a hunch...

...but if the reduced price extends until january 7th, it's highly unlikely that anyone would be using it as a christmas present after the 25th (unless you have a really good excuse). and the special ends, lo and behold, at the beginning of macworld.

hmmm... new ipods at mwsf, anyone?

This started on November 6, the same day as the iBook and PowerBook updates.

Great job, MacNN! Keep up the timely announcements.

    Engrish?

"... either one of the three 3 iPod models..."

Edit much? "Either" is usually used to indicate options between two choices. How about "any of the three iPod models"?

I'd like to think so, but has Toshiba released a higher-capacity drive recently? I thought the 20 GB was still the largest one they made.

Maybe a new design/color scheme or something?

P.S. does anybody else dislike the touchpad iPod? I have a 5 GB model and I much prefer the physical feel of the wheel to the solid-state models.

They had to do this because crud was getting into the wheel and rendering the iPod rather useless. The solution makes sense. This hopefully will give a longer life to the Pod.

    I want one!

I want an iPod with my "free-for-life" mac.com e-mail address engraved on it!

    Oh, wait...

(BTW: This is just a joke, I am happily paying for .mac, and I know no one ever promised it'd be free for life. But I DO want an iPod. Yes, I am a tool.)

Check your style guide. Usually, but not exclusively.

On topic: As a "will I, won't I" buyer, getting an iPod has to be one of the best purchases I've ever made. The iPod is wonderful!

I've put it to so many uses I never even thought of, and have started to listen to more diverse music than I'd imagined I would. I even rip audio tracks off DVDs (eg, movie commentaries) and listen to them while walking.
