IDG World Expo and Apple today confirmed Apple's participation in , which will be held at San Francisco's Moscone Center January 6-10, 2003. Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO, will deliver the keynote address on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. PST and Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, will give a presentation on "The Power of X" on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. PST.

Too Much?

Could this mean that Steve Jobs has too much to talk about in his keynote, so Schiller is picking up the slack and doing "The Power of X"?

Could it be that Jobs' keynote is full because he's going to be doing lots of talking about the PPC 970 based Powermacs? :)

Didn't Phil do presentations at other keynotes, even on the 'power of X'. And aren't MW's full of presentations and the like, not just from Apple, but other people as well? Basically, aren't you all making much more out of this than there is?

Predictions...

I predict Apple WILL announce new hardware at MWSF, and that this new hardware WILL include using the G5, 970, AND Intel/AMD x86 chips. Oh, and Steve WILL DEFINITELY be wearing blue jeans and a black turtleneck sweater. I say this now so I can be the first to gloat with a "As you heard here first..." when something is announced.

Oh, and here's a fun game to kill some time. Go over to Think Secret's web site, read the article on the new books, and count the number of times they self-congratulate themselves with "As we first announced..." statements. Also notice how they gloss over the facts that (1) they completely blew the drive stuff, and (2) except for pricing and 'larger hard drive' on the middle iBook, they didn't actually have a single spec that I could see on either of the laptops. Gotta love those rumor sites (hey, I bet in ten years if Apple finally comes out with a PDA, they'll be saying "As we first reported here 10 years ago...").

Jobs will leave

get ready...it will happen, and sooner than you think. Steve Jobs will leave Apple once again, at least as CEO. He'll remain on the board, but his time as CEO is drawing to a close. I predict he leaves within two years.

Schiller is a likely successor.

Please, he won't have time to leave. The stock is sinking faster than the titanic (or Brittany Spear's film career, take your pick). They can't keep up with Intel and the GHz (hope you all read up on the 970, because it ain't designed to scale very high!). The only one's who don't know their dead is Apple themselves and the people who keep buying their computers. And this isn't just some wild ranting on my part. I've got the proof! Its right there on the pages of Business Week. You can't miss it. And then confirmed by none other than the computer expert himself, John Dvorak.

Hope you sold your stock, otherwise you'll be hanging it on your wall next to your Global Crossing, Excite At-Home, and PSINet.

you're a funny guy testudo. do you think your mac bashing is gonna accomplish ANYthing here?

you mentioned you had "proof " of apple's downfall from...
1) a Business Week Article - a mag which on several occasions during the last few YEARS has been predicting apple's demise
2) the confirmation of a "computer expert".., or should i say the completely biased opinion of an ultimate peecee user? True, Dvorak has been in the computing world for many years and he is quite knowledgeable, but his repeated comment that "Apple hasn't had any innovations since 1984" alone puts that expert's reliability strongly in question!

true, apple might be losing ground in several fields (education undoubtedly one of them), but they are beginning to gain ground in new fields (XServe / OS X Server - Enterprise Market, BLAST - gene research) and maintaining hold in other ones (read: consumer market, video pros, publishing)

as for apple's share: after the recent announcements of the updated and aggressively priced powerbooks/ibooks, and the huge number of new iPod distributors, apple will be profitable in this quarter... the share is currently holding steady at 16 and beginning to slowly move up.

now i'm not saying apple doesn't have any problems and is doing extremely well - that is certainly NOT the case. all i am saying is that we should keep things in perspective.

after i read your message i couldn't help but think that the not so "wild" ranting is the ranting of a pc user who is trying to do some oh-so overdone mac bashing... well, if that's the case lemme tell ya this: you're just making a fool of yourself - get a life.
if this, however, isn't the case (i hope it isn't), then i would tell you that these aren't the wors times by far... apple has a lot of cash on their hand and an above-average financial outlook... thus giving us and them still lotsa time before they're "dead"

This is why sarcastic posts have gotten so lame on these boards that they're just pitiful little whinings of "Where's the floppy drive!" or "No 4GHz chip, I'm buying a PC!". The points you mention were what is supposed to make it obvious that it wasn't a real post. I mean, come on, quoting Dvorak? And BW? I was going to throw Michael Dell's name in there, but thought that'd make it too obvious. Guess I'll have to start dumbing down my posts like others have. Here, let me try....

In case NONE of you dumbasses noticed, which iss look like NONE did, Schillers keynote is the DAY AFTER Jobs' keynote, so no, it's not like Jobs is giving a "30 minute keynote" like some of you morons think. And in case none of you have any memory, someone else from Apple ALWAYS gives another keynote either the day of the original one, or the next day. Jeez.
