As a resident of Emeryville, this is great news (actually saw Apple listed on the legend of stores that were coming to the new downtown a few weeks ago.) This store is 2 minutes from Steve's other company, Pixar. There's a (crappy) CompUSA and a BestBuy nearby, so it's nice to have someone that has a clue how to sell Macs around.
I have a cool new place to hang out. This is straight up Dope....

My company (RottenTomatoes.com) is also located two minutes from the Emeryville Apple store. A big, big new Barnes & Noble is opening practically next door so it looks like Emeryville is definitely turning into a cool place to hang out!
for apple opening another one is the greatest state in the union, i would suggest more stores in L.A.
how about San Francisco????
Hop on the Bay Bridge (or BART and then the free Emery Go Round) and you are there. 13 minutes from downtown SF by car (which is quicker than getting to some places inside SF!). 25 minutes by BART/Emery Go-Round. While you are there cruise over to the Can't Fail Cafe for a snack, pay your respects to Pixar, grab some cheap DVDs at Best Buy and head back to SF. It'll be worth the trip. ;-)
