- Cliché Software's PodNews 3 Preview Release 1 offers the ability to transfer news headlines to the iPod. It enables users to synchronize news from any website with an RSS or RDF stream- either from a built-in list of hundreds or by specifying a URL. It requires Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar and will expire on December 1st. [513KB]
- BeerMeister 2.0 is a shareware beer recipe organizer designed to help homebrewers organize and create beer recipes. The $13 shareware offers Recipe creation guide, the ability to save recipes, and the ability to open more than one recipe database simultaneously. [Classic, OSX]
- James Hassinger notes that Canon recently posted updated CanoScan drivers, including ScanGear CS 7.01 and the CanoScan Toolbox 4.1.1 for the Canon LiDE 20 and LiDE 30 scanners: "These are OS X native, and they work pretty well. It gives functionality to the front buttons. The only thing that doesn't yet work is OmniPage, though that might work in Classic." Classic versions of the driver are also available.
- DC Website Creator 1.5 is a $25 "donationware" program that uses Graphic Converter to automatically create photo thumbnails and a web page from a user defined web template. - EarthBrowser 1.6.6 brings increased screensaver resolution, new webcams and volcanoes, and other fixes to innovative Earth simulation that combines an easy to navigate 3 dimensional globe with real-time weather conditions and 5 day forecasts. - Gideon Softworks has released SSH Helper 1.0, a free OpenSSH configuration utility for Mac OS X that allows you to control access to your account, generate new OpenSSH keys, View/Export your Public Keys, and Setup and Control the OpenSSH Server. The company also updated FileXaminer 1.5 ($10), a Jaguar-only version of its utility for modifying file and folder attributes. [SSH, FX]
