    Excellent

DigiDesign is an excellent and well-respected company in the audio world. These drivers will definitely help people make the move to OS X.

    WAS

it WAS a respected company, it is no longer as it isn't the same company. Respect is earned, not bought out.

    Final Cut Pro

What about Final Cut Pro integration - audio controls in Final Cut would be greatly enhanced with Audio Units - anyone heard anything?

    fcp with AU?

why would AU help fcp? AU is code for writing pluggins.. not unlike the VST and the DXi (win) formats.. you want pluggins for what? thats why they have protools and logic... do your hardcore audio work in there.. leave the video for fcp

    Actually...

Digidesign was bought out by Avid a few years ago. Digidesign still has a pretty good rep with Mac-based audio professionals. Avid, on the other hand...

    Why?

Why would someone who doesn't like Apple be posting to a Mac forum anyway?

    Digidesign

Digi has a rep for built in obsolescence and gouging their customers with ridiculous prices. Not sure where you heard they had a good rep???? It's true that most professional studios these days have an Alsihad (protools) setup, but that is mainly because others have it and clients expect it, not because it is the best. MOTU is much better (with the exception of latency, not insurmoutable tho) and FAR cheaper.

    I agree

MOTU offers much more value for the dollar, especially when you talk about hardware that does more than 8 channels of high-quality I/O. Meanwhile, both platforms are racing to go X-native. As far as I know neither is gold yet.
