MOTU has announced 24i/o, a single rack-space 96 kHz audio interface for Mac OS X. "[It] provides 24 balanced quarter-inch (TRS) 96 kHz analog inputs and outputs in a single rack-space enclosure. A 24i/o core system ($1,495) includes MOTU's next generation PCI-424 card, which provides expansion up to 96 inputs/outputs, DSP–driven mixing and monitoring, legacy I/O support, and on-board SMPTE synchronization. The 24i/o rack interface, which will also be sold separately as an expansion I/O ($1,195) for any MOTU PCI-424 system (such as MOTU's new 2408mk3), provides 5-segment front-panel meters for every input and output and software-switchable (-10/+4) analog input levels." Shipping is expected in the fourth quarter of 2002.

    Not for OS X Yet...

According to MOTU's FAQ , this thing will ship with OS 9 and Windows drivers. OS X stuff will be released later.
Myself, I use their 828 Firewire audio interface and love it, but I look forward to not needing to reboot into OS 9 everytime I want to record.

    Logic

I'm a DP user who tried out Logic and was completely aghast at how poor the interface is. You think Microsoft UI design is bad??

Supposedly they tried to give a demo of Logic to Jobs and he walked out of the room after less than a minute ;)

    Logic v DP

I whole-heartedly agree with the above. I tried to switch as well when I realized how long it could be till DP for OSX. The interface is terrible. Also waiting on Finale...

    Motu OS9

I've used DP for awhile now and having seen The crappy Logic interface I don't see the point in switching.
OSX or not, are people incapable of getting work done in 9?
DP is supposed to be out the end of the year.
Unlike there 3.1 update (wayyyyy late) I'm sure they know they better have DPX out on time or people will switch in droves.
