    Why not advertise this!

Why doesn't Apple use their TV air time to feature some of these specials? dells sell a'plenty 'cause there's always a sale going on and they talk about them in their ads.

Since Macs suffer from the stereotype of being "too expensive," doesn't a clearly-defined ad campaign showing that you can buy a Mac at a decent price make sense?

Friends of mine were complaining about apple's ads as being stupid and all seemingly talk about using a digital camera with the computer, like that's all the machine is good for "I can just plug it in!".

One also read somewhere that Macs were just for women and g***. (Don't know where they read that, but probably one of those "My PC is better than a Mac because its got a floppy drive and I can swap out the motherboard" sites or magazines).

FOR THE MOST PART, yeah, I know women and alot of g** men using them, they even had a rainbow apple logo up until a few years ago... now they removed it 'cause too many people knew what it stood for...

    what the f.....?

I can't believe this conversation is actually happening... g***? women? computers? Geezus...

Anyway, yes, Apple is immersed in it's "coolness" so much that it feels it doesn't even have to advertise in a manner that, say, actually sells computers instead of selling "a feeling" or "attitude".. in the first "new economy", attitude sold.. now, folks just want good junk for a good price.. and Steve Jobs doesn't understand that.. he assumes that we all just trust him when he says that neat new stuff is around the bend.. and that everyone has just as much money as he does to plunk down on shiny new macs every year... it's killing Apple..

Oh, and all these promos end on 12/31, so the bad news is, no upgrades till then.. and we get tweaked g4's then.. and then Steve wants us to shell out 9 months later when g5's roll around..

    That stinks...

I just mailed in my $200 rebate a week ago on the 1.25 GHz model I bought 3 weeks ago. I could have had $400 if I waited a little longer! They had that stupid office party rebate thing going. I didn't think they had any REAL rebates coming up. Man was I wrong....

    Friends of mine...

...were complaining. Says more about your friends than anything else. Stupidity and fear are their refuge.
